The Ames Chamber Artists will open their 30th year with Noël, a seasonal concert on Saturday December 9 and 14. There will be opportunities to hear this concert in Ames and parts of this concert in Des Moines. The concert on December 9 will be held at Collegiate Presbyterian Church, 159 North Sheldon, Ames at 7:30 p.m. The group will perform again at Faith Lutheran Church on Thursday December 14 at 7:00 p.m. as part of the Soli Deo Musica series. Faith Lutheran Church is located in Clive at 10395 University Avenue.
The 40 piece auditioned adult choral group includes singers from the Ames, Boone, and now the Des Moines area. Director David Johnson has been able to select a variety of accompanied and a cappella choral pieces due to the increased numbers in the group. Some of the works to be performed include O Come, O Come, Emmanuel arranged by Jay Rouse with cello and piano accompaniment; The Work of Christmas by Dan Forest based on the poem by Howard Thurman; Noël C’est L’Amour arranged by Andre Bellefeuille: and the lighter ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas arranged by Harry Simeone.

Tickets for the Ames concert may be purchased in advance at Everts Flowers and Rieman’s Music on Main Street in Ames. They may also be purchased from ACA members. Tickets purchased in advance are $12.00 for adults and $9.00 for seniors and students. Children are not required to buy tickets. Tickets will be available at the door the evening of the event for $15.00. The December 14 concert at Faith Lutheran is a free performance.
